The 300 Blackout in South Africa

I was a little late to the party with regards to the 300 Blackout, however there were those that had seen the light and wanted to get this calibre into South Africa. Deon from Hailstorm was one of the drivers of this and actually had to register this calibre with the CFR before being able […]

New furniture and colours for 2014

We’ve seen a bit of a change in 2014 as far as furniture for AR15’s go. Over the last few years, manufacturers of rifles have started producing their own gear, shifting from the Magpul MOE furniture that we have become so used to seeing on certain lines. While I suspect the majority of manufacturers will […]

Magpul’s MBUS PRO vs MBUS Gen 2

AR15News created an excellent picture comparison of MagPul’s MBUS Gen 2 polymer flip-up sights versus the newly released MBUS PRO machined metal sights. The Magpul MBUS Gen 2’s are good sights and do most things that you need them to, but there are some applications where they don’t work that well, and this is the gap […]

Bushmaster start shipping different length ACR barrels

Bushmaster will finally be shipping different barrel lengths for their ACRs. One of the only complaints that really I hear or read of about on the ACR is that it’s a little front heavy, and maybe it is. The availability of 14.5″ and 10.5″ barrels is good news for those looking to shift the balance […]

BUSHMASTER 16” MOE MID-LENGTH @ WACS / HBA

And another interesting AR is heading for South African shores. WACS / Honey Badger Armaments have just confirmed that they are receiving a shipment of Bushmaster 16” MOE Mid-Length .223/5,56 rifles with black Magpul MOE furniture from the US. I really like this rifle and it’s mid-length gas system. Although a fairly standard rifle, the Magpul […]

Keep your Carbine Running by Pat Rogers

The focus of the article is about dispelling lubrication and cleaning myths which are vital to keeping your AR ticking along smoothly.  Uncle Pat and SWAT will probably be a little upset if I reproduce their article here, but below are a few snippets. The AR series runs significantly better wet than dry, but there are those […]

Noveske and Magpul develop new AR15 safety selector

Noveske Rifleworks and Magpul have developed a new safety selector for AR-15-pattern rifles. The STS (Short Throw Selector) was designed to require less force to put on safe, while still maintaining the positive feel of switching it off. Rumour has it that these have already started shipping to dealers, so they should be available soon.
